February Art Exhibit @ the Main Library

"Beauty of Art" by local artist Naveena Gulappa will on display in the hallway gallery on the library's main floor for the month of February.  An art teacher and henna artist, Naveena will show a variety of mixed media pieces that use unique materials such as micro-beads, glitter, fabric paints, rhinestones, and card stock paper. The end result is truly greater than the sum of its parts.

Items included in the "Beauty of Art" collection are available for sale. Be sure to visit the gallery space before the show ends on February 28.

January Art Exhibit @ the Main Library

With two art spaces in the main library, we are always thrilled when we can tell you about the simultaneous art exhibits taking place during any given month.  In the month of January, we also have a show hanging in the community art space in our main hallway, where we have a variety of hand-hooked rugs on display made by local rug hookers.

Rugs as works of art? Yes!

These beautiful, handmade rugs will be on display until the end of January.  Once you see them, you'll be hooked!

January Art Exhibit @ the Main Library

Quilter Diane Cadrain will exhibit her handmade quilts in the main library's community room for the month of January 2013.  This exhibition, entitled, Natural Inspirations, takes, as the name implies, its inspirations from the natural beauty in the everyday things and places that may seem ordinary to one person's view, but are extraordinary to an artist's eye.  With names such as, "Lunch Among the Cabbages," "Serious Sushi," and "Jack 'O Lantern Mushrooms," each quilt is as unique as its title, and the detail and whimsy in each handcrafted piece make each one its own original work of art.

These one-of-a-kind quilts are available for purchase.  Contact information for the artist can be obtained from the Information Services Desk on Level 2 of the main library.
